  • Wobbling seatpost shim in On One carbon frame – how to fix?

My On One Dirty Disco has an aluminium shim that the seatclamp clamps onto which is bonded(?) into the frame. Well, it’s started wobbling back and forth.

I can’t see any cracks around the seattube at all or further down where the shim ends so assume it’s just become unbonded.

Any ideas on fixing? Out of warranty and On One have told me I should buy a new frame.

Should be repairable – speak to one of the carbon repair specialists as it’s not unusual. If the insert pulls out, you may be able to re-bond it but I’d want to make sure both the surfaces were clean and that the low-viscocity adhesive that thoroughly ‘wets’ the surface to ensure there’s no room for water ingress / potential corrosion.

    Update:

Pulled shim out, cleaned it up thoroughly and the inside of the seattube. Liberal application of Araldite and has held up so far…
