    Hi All,

Just finished off building my own little twin led bike light and I'm all proud and that, but now I've come to wire the switch my head won't work.

It's a 3 terminal switch and afaik two wires goto one and one wire to the other, but which wires go where???

    1x red + from battery
    1x black – from battery

    1x red + from driver
    1x black – from driver

    Cheers

Red from battery to one end of switch. Red from driver to other end of switch. Join 2 black ones together.

Back off to the kitchen to finish

Humm, no joy?? Just tried it and the wires get quite hot, could it be the switch isn't big enough to cope with the power, it has 2a 250vac and 5a 120vac stamped on it and I'm using a 10 x2600mah cell x 1.2v battery

Any more ideas or is it just as simple as that.

Oh and if I bypass the switch altogether it works fine, no hot wires etc but obviously I can't turn it on and off

Is the switch a 2 pole switch? IE has an on position each side? 3 terminals in total? From battery to common – usually the centre terminal and the output to one side or the other –

It does depend on what driver you are using – some require a direct connection to teh battery and a separate switching circuit

This switch – http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=2341 Single pole

    is that any help??

This is so frustrating as almost there.

All sorted. I can't believe it's taken me this long to work out where FOUR wires go!!!!!!!!!!

It went like this, One black wire to end terminal on switch and one to the centre. Join both red wires bypassing switch altogether.

    Thanks for the pointers
