OK, we all know that Windows is rubbish and I need to use a mac/ubunto/linux etc. so those comments won't be very helpful 😉

However my 6 month old laptop with Windows vista has started freezing every 10 minutes or so regardless of what software I'm using.
I thought it could be an issue with AVG so i swapped to Avast – no change
I thought it could be an issue with Internet explorer, so I tried Google Chrome – no change

In fact the only software on it that didn't come with the laptop is Avast – no games, no dodgy downloads etc.

Help!!! Anyone got any ideas for me?

About a million components all working together in your PC, one of them is causing trouble. Symptoms are 'it hangs'.

Sure, we'll have it fixed in a jiffy!

If it was working but now it isn't, chances are it is a windows update that was downloaded and is faulty. Find the update log and go through it looking for stuff that was installed when it started going wrong.

If the manufacturer has a support forum like HP does you could find some hints on there – when there was an update causing trouble on my laptop it was all over the forum.
