It's the tinterweb, people discuss the minutiae of life and what peeves them. This peeves other people so they then complain about that, and people post up to say stop being so silly getting worked up about such things…and the cycle continues.

I ride my 5" travel bike down the tow path sometimes, so what! I have one bike and ride it where I want, don't really give a monkeys what the latest fad it. So long as I'm riding, I'm smiling. Enjoy the day!

I rode an 8" Demo on the Cwm Carn XC loop once…. didnt give a jot what others thought! its a bike it had 2 wheels, job done!

How fast do I have to ride XC to be considerd "aggressive" and can I do it on a hardtail ?
