Any spots you can recommend. Ideally tarmac close by (roadies )but don’t mid a short carry or push. Not likely to be visited by local yobbos, quiet and wild.
Used the Teifi pools before but want a change. Say 50 miles ride from Rhayader.

Close to tarmac is not wild imo.

Must agree but nowadays those with very little sense of adventure call anything that isn’t a paying campsite “wild”. Mine and your versions are not what many people recognise.

    Abergwesyn, north of the village.
Occasionally up there for work, not a lot apart from timber wagons cutting through and a weird chap near the river crossing at the bottom of the staircase.

+1 timber, Irfan valley from Abergwesyn to devils staircase (heading towards dolgoch)

Also a couple of spots along the road from Dolgoch south towards Randy above Llyn Briane.

Try this spot just south of Brecon. Just within your 50 mile radius. Always fancied camping there, lots of flat ground. Not particularly secluded though.

    And on Streetview.

I think I’ve camped more or less in the spot molgrips suggests (about 25 years ago!)

TBH, you’ll get away with camping pretty much anywhere in the Beacons provided you’re out of sight from the road.

Apparently the New Inn at Ystradfellte is much improved, but bit of a climb after dinner.

Even the simple act of sleeping in a tent has it’s snobs!

Hate to rain on your parade but asking for wild camp locations on a public forum is irresponsible bordering on stupid, maybe even stupid bordering on irresponsible.

Location gets posted, someone comes along searching for similar and finds the details. Repeat. The location has changed from somewhere that gets irregular “below the radar” usage to regular use which invariably leads to litter, sanitation problems, etc. and then either a no camping sign goes up or a local by-law gets passed banning overnight stops outside of official campsites.

Keep riding and when you see somewhere suitable, i.e. not visible from properties or the road, then set up late, leave early and leave no trace. So no fires, no litter and if you want to be really fussy scruff up the grass so it doesn’t look like anyone’s been lying there.

The above may seem a little like hyperbole but if someone’s looking for an excuse to restrict access to the countryside then they’ll use it.
