    The Maxle on my Pikes was fine with the same hub…..

    check your bearings in the hub – do NOT overtighten the maxle

    Make sure there is enough grease on the wedges inside the maxle. Rock Shox rarely put enough grease on them, so they bind in, rather than expand the maxle.
    99% of the time this will cure any play issues.
