well i get dressed in tight fitting clothing and spend a fortune to get my legs and arse hammered, so it's either xc racing/mtb dualthalons/riding, or a trip to a dominatrix! come to think of it WTF am I doing riding a bike 😀

Because just about the best taste in the world is whisky out a hip flask when you're freezing cold, muddy and have just nailed a tricky descent in the dark.

Keeps me fit
Keeps me sane
Feeds the soul
Builds character
Strengthens friendships
Gives me something to tinker with

But most importantly it gets me away from the wife!

Because I'm terribly materialistic.

And love riding.

Adreneline fix, risk, views, friends..The buzz from it all.

To get out in the great countryside.
To see wildlife,
Fresh air,
De-stress,
meet like minded friends.
It reminds me of being a child again.
I always feel brilliant for hours after.
I can eat what I like.

Physical challenge.
Mental challenge.
I love being outdoors.
Excitement.
Shiney kit.

I ride because i am!

Dunno where/who/what I'd be, without bikes…

I just love being near bikes.

I don't really, it's just an excuse to buy stuff off the internet.

Because I'm not right in the head, apparently.

So I can earn the right to post on STW, apparently the world starts & stop here, so I feel the need to be part of the cool gang.

Because my wrist is too injured to ride bmx anymore. To talk to people about bikes and anything other than work. To try to fight off the middle aged spread.

Bacause I can't play the piano.

Or spell.

So I can eat cake

to keep my shonky old knees turning……as I am finding having been off bike for 6 weeks due injury -(

even the stairs hurt now…

If I don't ride I topple over.

Because I can't be arsed with a gym.

I can fit everything else around it.

It stops me shouting at the telly.

Because it makes me happier than anything else and I still enjoy it as much now as when I bought my first MTB 23 years ago.

I ride pretty much every day but very rarely do any of that ^^

Why do you do it?

it feels good, always has.

because it is fantastic fun, gets me outside and is a good way to free my mind.

Initially to lose weight and get fit after stopping smoking.
Now for the social, spending money I haven't got all new bits and because the child in me loves getting covered in mud. 😀

Because I can.

The feeling after nailing a bit of trail, whether it's a nice swooping turn, or a rocky drop.

Makes the pain and frustrations all worthwhile.

Plus it makes me rad to the power of 10

it solves all your problems…no matter how down you are…it will pick you up…and if your already sporting a smiley face it will make u smile more…
