I take is someone else has been on here that has the ability to use logic and reason and doesn't simply go along with the general consensus.
Please don't call me fred or talkemada though. Stu or jumbo sausage pants will be fine!

Why not?
That was simply an intro to say the jumbo sausage pants bit.
I don't want to get drawn in here (but probably will knowing me).
If we’re talking about US cops then I have no right to comment as I do not live in that society or have any experience of the realities of that service (and no watching the Wire or NYPD blue does not count).
But, yes I agree, it never fails to amuse me the amount of people who think that if they get really angry or start swearing and throwing punches that it will resolve a hopeless situation.
When was the last time you saw a night club doorman announce
"Well seeing as you’ve called me a C&*%, by all means feel free to come into the premises in your drunken state with your shirt covered in vomit, can I get you some drinks too?”
I think the red mist does have a lot to do with it, that and stupid bast4rd pride, we live in an age where everyone refuses to lose face and lives in a bubble where fear is confused with respect. No-one likes to admit they are beaten or take true responsibility for their actions a good deal of the time.
(EDIT) Wilber- Re' your car story, I've been there too mate. Good example.
If you can afford an actual legal defence they think twice, if you are being defended by lawyers that work for the state/government, anything goes.
So when the fascist police thugs are doing the arresting how do they know who can afford to pay for non government controlled legal types. No taking me as an example I don't look very wealthy but I could afford a good lawyer.
Is it cause poor folks smell?
thisisnotaspoon - MemberThe law favours the rich, why should people play by rules that are unfair and discriminatory?
Your bike cost more than mine, you are probably richer. Should I be allowed to seel your bike? Of course f****g not, dont make such stupid comments.

How do I do the wording in box thingy?
Connect your Etch-a-Sketch to your 'pooter using a usb cable.
Or use the "quote button" above.
I don't think he's Fred, he's got a proper e-mail address and everything.
However, just to check:
Liverpool are a crap footie team, London is a big soulless cesspit inhabited solely by wideboys and spivs and Thatcherism was a valid political philisophy*.
That should flush him out.......

SFB, Fair comment. I shouldn't have generalised. But my point still stands.
for example, I had to deal with an issue a few years ago where someone in a buss queue asked a kid not to ride his bike on the pavemnet so the kid stabbed him for dissrespecting him.
Practical Matt
Have you ever seen any other officer doing or you yourself done anything that made you question what you where doing, and if it was right or not?
capt stu, who are you really? Whats your opiniion on disc brakes? You are too inflamatory to have only become a member since 3 days ago.
An alter ego to fan the flames of arguement with a can of petrol??
Love disc brakes, except when it's time to bleed them, I'm entitled to my opinions even if they're not the same as the numb nutts.
Or should everyone go along with the masses (numb nutts).
The bottom line is the law is unfair and poor people are feeling the hurt, when they feel the hurt they commit crime. Which effect people with money, since I have money crime going up concerns me, because I'm more of a target.
As long as people are desperate or want things they can't have, they will commit crime. Since the rich insist on getting more money and in manipulating the judicial process and making more people desperate, the crime rate will continue to rise!
Why do people resist arrest?
BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO GET ARRESTED, OBVIOUSLY!
taking me as an example I don't look very wealthy but I could afford a good lawyer.

Gary, I had assumed your day job was street vagrant and hadn't liked to mention the smell...

What's the correlation between poorness and jay-walking?
Bottom line is the law is levelled equally against all, how it is enforced might be skewed slightly, but resisting arrest is the most stupid thing you could possibly do as it's simply jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. If you break the law you choose to take that risk, if you think the law is more against you due to your social status then your risks stacked against you even higher.
The officer, Ian Walsh, has been transferred temporarily to the department's training unit, Seattle police said.
To teach the others his restraint method?

Ah so you're entitled to your opinion and if people don't agree with it you start to name call. You are a 6th former, aren't you.
when they feel the hurt they commit crime
Really, I thought it was because they were either junkies, think everyone else owes them a living or just totally lack morals.

Do i get £5 for each identity?
You need a faster keyboard.
Read the lyrics of Police Truck by the Dead Kennedys.
Regardless of whether someone is rich or poor, if they break the law then they deserve the appropriate punishment. Dont do the crime etc.
However i would agree with your point that if you can afford a fancy pants lawyer, then you may have a better chance of getting away with it / reduced sentence. I suspect that the average legal aid blokie probably doesnt fit into that category.
I still think capt stu is someone else on here......

In theory and on paper yes, but in reality the law only exists where it is enforced. If it is enforced less for the rich or influential, because law enforcement agents are afraid of expensive legal costs. Are we really equal?

but:
a) likewise they don't if they didn't
b) the legal system mey well result in a disproportionate punishment

Never met a law enforcement officer who was even slightly bothered by legal costs, only on evidence and whether or not it would get through its initial review. I have, however, often found that (at least in traffic matters) they like pulling people in expensive/fast cars more than cheap/slow/normal cars, even when no laws have been broken, as a sort of "you're not above us" move.
because they were either junkies
ie mentally and/or physically ill, which punishment won't fix
Captain.Stu.Pendous. clearly I don't think the same as you, I have different thoughts, different ideas, I'll admit, thankfully, that I am different from you if that makes me a childish name in your eyes then I couldn't really give a toss.

I didn't say it would. But that could be applied to any crime committed by 'rich' or 'poor'.

If you're having problems try sweezers.
Oh sorry, I thought you said have a toss.
Well it's been nice to join the STW community, I was told that linch mobs and pointless arguments are a speciality on here, glad too see it's not true.
I did however come under prepared, so will now need to go and get a couple of gucci handbags and a bag of sugar to go inside each.
So long!
all i'm saying is that until you've been in that sort of situation you really cant judge.
Captain.Stu.Pendous you forgot to mention pedantry, and whilst we're on the subject what are 'linch mobs'?
Oh that’s right you can't answer because you're outta here. You young guns have no staying power.
I just love what you've done with the penis size reference, very grown up. You suggested I have a small willie, oh dear I'm hurting now.
Just remember next time ‘don’t take a toothpick to a gunfight’.
