Hope X2 brakes but who’s pads perform well?
looking at ‘Alligator’ & ‘Uberbike’ as well as EBC or Superstar.
    Any recommendations?

Hope original sintered. I get such long life out of them that the cost really does not matter and I like to know that it will all fit properly and that I get a new pin, spring and clip with them

What are you paying for them TJ?

A2Z from WHS on my Mono Mini’s, Mono M4’s, Mono 6Ti’s. The only budget pad that seems to have consistant quality/life for me (I have tried most others). Every so often I have to buy originals from Hope for the springs and things.

+1 for Disco pads. in Maguar Louise brakes.

I did try Magura original pads and they were good but expensive. Disco pads aren’t as good but they were a fraction of the price and you do stop eventually.

Hope pads are half-manufactured by EBC 😉

Hope manufacture their “backing plate” in house, and then ship their backing plates to EBC who then apply the braking compound to the backing plate, and ship back to Hope

EBC for the above reason and that they know a thing or two about car brake pads.

I agree with TJ. Hope sintered.

I won’t use EBC on my cars though…I use Mintex on the cars.

Not a bad price for the Hope OE ones there TJ. I think my next brakes are going to be Hopes.

Built a bike with V brakes recently and was amazed that V brake pads can cost so much.

My magura mt4 brakes came with magura pads and they wore out completely after 3 rides (front). Couldn’t believe it after my cheaper formula rx original pads on my cube are still going after 1 year! Now on the discos and all good so far (sintered)

Superstar kevlars here… A pretty perfect balance, at a silly price.

How do the other options compare in terms of feel and power to Hope OEM organic pads? I’m utterly stunned by the degree of modulation with my new Race Evo M4 – so much power but the control is perfect, never dreamt it was possible to skid so little yet stop so fast! Don’t want to lose that feedback with a longer lasting pad.

If I had Hope brakes I’d probably use their sintered pads tbh, very good.

Aztec sintered have always been good for me
Ran superstar previous and despite the bargain price
I’d still rather pay for the quality / longevity. Of Aztec

Uberbike sintered – great pads, well priced and service always good

    EBC for stopping ability
Alligator for longevity (and not a lot less umph)
Fibrax for my Hope C2s, not many people make those still.
    .
Tried a cheap brand (can’t racall which) The first ones were OK, but I had stocked up a bit as they were cheap and the ones whch were left in the tool box while I was using the first set all came away from the backing plates!
    .
I’m sticking with what I know now.
OEM Formula stuff seems OK, I’ll stick with those in the new brakes on the big bike until they wear out.
    .
Can’t afford EBC for the car

When my sintered hope needed changing ( which were fantastic btw )on my m4’s I thought I’d give the ss kevlar’s a go. They are gash.Quickly went back to hope sintered.

I’ve been using Uberbike pads on my bikes for the past 2 years and have been great £22 or there abouts for 4 sets of pads you can’t go wrong 😀

Magura Marta Endurance – last me ages and maintains the warranty. Fairly cheap on CRC. What’s not to like?
