It has to me! Locked the wheel up and the rim sliced through the tyre and ground itself a nice flatspot on the road!

    EDIT
By the way, it happened because you didn’t fit the tyre correctly, most likely… 😳

Have you fitted a 36″ tube to a 29″ wheel?

No. Although granted it does look like one of those tubes you use on the flumes at Waterworld…

Something similar happened to a mate when he pringled his wheel. He got up from the crash, picked up his bike and then a couple of seconds later the tyre popped off the rim and the tube started bulging out. I think I tried to get to its valve before it burst but I was too slow and instead my ears were painfully close to the BANG.

Yeah, my inner tube escaped from my tyre (just like that, without bursting) when I hadn’t seated it properly.

I run slightly higher pressures now.

Same happened to me last year:

As I’ve progressed from newbie and bought better bikes and tyres I too went tubeless and made the mistake of going back to Lee Quarry on my 29er with Bonty rims and tyres running tubeless and the front tyre dismounted the rim at the worst possible moment, at the end of the video….

Bonty XR3’s. Very fast, but well sketchy in the wet!

xr3 29ers go lovely with a ghetto tubeless and at low pressures they’re very good in the wet n sloppy!

Both folding panaracer fire xc’s (quite loose fitting) on mavic 317/XM317 rims (not that tight fitting either)

Strangely enough, I think not. There seemed to be a three inch gash in the sidewall of the tyre that I reckon compromised the integrity. I had to patch it with an empty gel tube!

Come to the Big Bike Bash and enjoy a pint of Team Bullheart beer and you won’t be worried for long.

That’s right, Team Bullheart beer will be at the BBB
