I have a bunch of Italian friends, with which we frequent mostly Italian establishments so I’d like to be able to communicate a bit more. I do like the Italian cultural romance idealogy, frequent an Italian Barbers and Deli along my street.

However, they are also have Spanish and speak both languages plus we holiday in Spain a bit, it’d be nice to speak the lingo. I also understand Spanish is the second most widespread language in the world?

    So, which one?

    Graci / Gracias in advance…

Just shout at everyone in English with an Italian or Spanish accent.

Just add o to the end of every other word, instant Italiano.

This. I had a friend at school who was Italian, he took Spanish GCSE without any formal lessons and still got an A (in the days before the A*).

Any recommendations as to resources? I’m thinking of starting with this:

You have already driven an Alfa and you like smart shades.

Spanish. As above very similar to Italian but much more widely spoken.
