I am buying an m760 off a mate and currently have an SLX on my best bike. Which is best (i.e. lightest and stiffest)

    OR

Not talking about rings and bb just arms/axle

if you're talking about a double SLX then the arms 'should' be stronger as they have steel inserts for the pedals.

but, in the real world i don't think you'll notice the difference.

No discernable difference. Same sort of stiffness/weight etc… I have the two types on two of my bikes. The best thing about SLX is the steel/composite middle ring (almost no wear on my Trek after a years solid use) but that wasn't the question and you probably know that anyway.

XT looks less special needs IMHO (I've got SLX 🙁 )
