What to get some small speakers as a present for a friend. They like listening to internet radio, audio books etc so words need to sound clear and distinctive.
    Thanks.

Not sure of your budget, but for about £100ish I'd recommend some Audioengine A2 speakers. There are powered, will accept in an iPod, or CD player/radio as external source and sound really nice. Gloss black, or gloss white too for the Apple look….

I got a pair of these:

At less than a tenner, you can't really go wrong, but they are well made and provide a decent sound. I use them mainly for listening to audio books from my laptop.
