After years of being scornful of them and going over the bars on Monday, I think it’s finally time to think about sticking one on the bike. Which is best and why?

Going on a Nicolai Helius CC with a 31.6mm seat tube, not that it is relevant.

Reverb or KS

Gravity Dropper if you like that sort of thing

Nothing else has had enough time to go wrong*

*Joplin in there somewhere but that sort of talk makes the middle east look settled

A new frame…

Reluctant to replace a £2000 frame for the sake of a £300 seatpost.

Gravity Droppers works (works being the operative word!) great in 27.2mm.

x-fusion hi-lo is one of the better ones, no problems with mine.
Have a reverb as well and thats a little smoother and adjustable.

Could be marketing loblocks but RS specifically say that you should under no circumstances shim the Reverb as it puts uneven pressure on it and can stop it functioning.

anyway, I’d recommend the Reverb if you’re using a sensible sized frame. 😉

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’m not sure you’ll have room for a dropper post on your Nicolai. I nearly bought an CC a year or two ago but pulled out when I realised the seattube was too long to fit one…that was on a medium too and I’m over 6 foot! I was going to buy an AC last year instead of my current frame and was going to have to have a custom seat tube made.
You need 195mm from top of the seatpost clamp to the middle of the saddle rail. I’m guessing 170mm for the 4″ drop version (for a Reverb).
