Is it worth paying for Avid pads or are the cheaper ones just as good? Also, can someone remind me what the difference is between organic and sintered. I'm running Elixir 5s and Elixir Rs and could do with the pads lasting more than a few rides. Ta. Plus, if anyone knows how the new XT brakes compare to Avids, I'd like to hear. I'm not massivley impressed so far, especially with the Rs. Ta again.

Sell the Elixirs, buy something else...
Organics last around 20 miles in gritty conditions in my experience, sintered will last a month or longer

Oh and just buy the cheap stuff, superstar etc seem fine

I'm not overly impressed with the longevity of the pads on my elixirs, the back ones had to be replaced after 6 rides, compare that to the pads on my XTs which I haven't replaced in a year.
So I'm considering putting the XTs on the new bike

the pads will last you ages as long as you bed them in properlyPosted 4 months ago # -
Pad came away from the backing plate on 3 out of 4 pairs of superstar for me - switched to A2Z sintered fom dot bike - cheap and long lasting, but make sure you bed them in properly
