I’m thinking of doing a 24hour solo next year. There are loads out there and from reports most seem good. Which one would you recommend for a first timer? I’d prefer the minimumum amount of travelling so closer to Newcastle the better.

Which ones have the best course, best atmosphere, best weather etc.

Possibly a bit far away, but Relentless 24 is a fantastic event. This year’s race was blessed with perfect weather into the bargain.

Relentless and Strathpuffer are the best I’ve done, and probably closer than the flat, dull courses in the Midlands used by SITS. I’ll never do a Provelo event again- the courses are crap.

the puffer .. did it in ’07.. its cold wet and less than 7 hours of daylight..
oh and it ruins your bike..

Best 24hr event I’ve done was the UK24 solo champs at Newcastleton. Close to the north eat too.
