  • Where's good to ride around Bournemouth?

I’m moving to Bournemouth in a couple of weeks and it would be great to know where abouts locals go for a ride. I’ve had a bit of a look online and the immediate vicinity looks quite tame, but great if you’re on a CX bike. I’ve read a bit about the New Forest and Watchmoor, but the marked/permitted trails look a bit underwhelming.

We’re soon to have a baby too so immediacy/ease of popping out is a big plus. Being able to get out to the Peak is something I’ve taken for granted of late.

I fear that the darkside may fully take over 😳 By chance are any of you riding the Wiggle Sportive?

Studland’s nice. Ride to sandbanks, get the chain ferry across then explore a bit. It’s not gnar’d to the maxx but it makes for a decent ride.

Purbecks are ace on a warm, sunny day.

Would recommend tagging along with the Dorset Rough Riders. Rides take place nearly everyday and most start from Bournemouth/Poole. Have a look at their website.

That’s a relief, looks like there’s lots to go at. Thanks for your input.

The RRD page looks quite good, that calendar’s well booked.
