Sure this has been on here before…………

Master Plan to try to ride some of 7 Stanes and highlands in 3 days has fallen foul of swmbo

So looks like a couple of days around Mabie / Dalbeattie / Kirroughtree, and a couple around Glentress. 2 nights at one, 1 at the other.

any recommendations on decent places to stay at each location?

Youth Hostels? Brake Pad B&B is near Dalbeattie and supposed to be nice. Glentress Hotel is nice enough and virtually on the trailhead.

the breakpad is in Castle Douglas which is just off A75 and has easy acess for dbt and kirr. 10mins and 35 mins travel

Greenhead Lodge. 20 mins from Dalbeattie and Mabie, about 40 to Kirroughtree. Dirt cheap and 5*. Costing 8 of us £15 each for 2 nights next weekend…
