A local bike shop, might seem like I’m being petty, but in my experience they regularly need returning under warranty (both Bosch & Yamaha) for major & minor issues.

I would second the local bike shop suggestion. There aren’t massive on line savings yet and the LBS will be very pleased and helpful (in my experience)

A local dealer who specialises in good quality electric-assist bikes. It’s quite an outlay so also worth travelling to a good shop if none available locally. Would suggest joining and enquiring on the pedelec site forums

My wife got one through Rutland Cycles. They have a shop with a whole load of ebikes you can try for yourself.

He’ll give you one just as soon as you hand over your soul.
    The devil I mean… 😉

But yeah, local bike shop for continued service.

Advised a good friend to buy a discounted 2015 Giant from the local shop. He did. Excellent value and he’s very pleased after several long rides.

There’s a lot more that can go wrong with an E MTB so being able to return a 21kg bike locally is a very good idea IMO.

My wife has a Bosch motor e bike, covered more than 900 miles on it faultless so far, I believe the Bosch motors are very reliable ?

A mate of mine, who is a cube dealer, has ridden a bosch equipped bike that had done more than 3,000 miles.
He reckoned it was slightly noisier than a brand new one, but still went just fine.
My wife and I both have ebikes, no problems with either, although they have only done a few hundred miles.

I’ve sold many ebikes, they are generally very reliable there have been a few noisy motors (effectively the “bb” bearings) and a few batteries died, all covered under warranty but you can’t easily send an ebike or batteries due to shipping restrictions so buying local is a big bonus.

Second/third all the above. Local (or within-easy-travelling-distance) shop, but I’d add, pick one which has a range of e-bikes you can try out, sells a few brands (not just the e-bikes from their main “normal” brands) and who has experience (and training) in maintaining them.

Plenty of LBSs have invested heavily in e-bikes in the last couple of years, there should be somewhere reasonably close to you who can give you great service.
