    Bigger version:

I’ve measured a few times and I’m pretty sure this is right, but as I’ve never done this before and am a bit of a numpty I thought I’d ask for a second opinion. I wasn’t expecting the spoke lengths for the rear to be the same on both sides for some reason, and a 3mm difference at the front seems quite a lot in comparison, but what do I know? 🙂

Hmm – pretty sure I’ve done the measurements right as I’ve done them a few times – wonder why they would be coming out as the same?

it’s the different pcd’s on the flanges causing it – the one further out is a larger diameter.

Left flange is larger, but further out – so same spoke length needed. Some manufacturers make hubs this way deliberately – it also gives more room for the disc mount.

Pretty normal numbers for disk hubs IME

Ok, thanks folks, I think I get it.

So…… comparing with some standard rims/hubs on the Wheelpro calculator, it seems like the right hand hub flange diameter is comparatively smaller in relation to the left hub flange diameter on my Novatec hubs (58 and 49).

On something like a Hope Pro II they are only slightly different (56 and 54), but if you drop the second number the recommended spoke lengths get closer together.

    Last question, maybe…..

If I saw to buy spokes from here, any idea what length nipples I will get with them? Ie 12mm, 14mm etc. I know I can email them but I’m impatient and surely the STW fount of knowledge can tell me. 🙂

12 mm is what i would assume unless it told me differently tbh

Your link also has a separate link for nipples

you may need to buy the spokes and the nipples

Do you want to borrow my wheel jig and dish tool ?

Thanks that’s very kind – I’ve borrowed a truing stand but the dish tool might be handy. Still aiming to try and come on Sunday.

It says they come with aluminium nipples but brass are meant to be better anyway so maybe I’ll just order some separately.
