I have just done a few checks and mine is a poultry ... 0.1mb
No wonder it takes a lifetime to download any video clips.

noisy phone line?
miles from the exchange?
always been slow?Posted 4 months ago # -
crikey, mine's rubbish and it's just over 1 meg. We live in the middle of nowhere & are on the cusp of what BT would consider to be an acceptable line quality for ADSL. It does also dip lower at peak times. Sounds like there's a problem with yours as 0.1mb is proper rubbish! Investigation required.

For some reason, speedtest wants to use a London based server when I live near Manchester

Was getting 1meg for years with Tesco, changed to Orange (and paying less) a few months ago, now getting 14meg.

Malvern are due to get fibre optic soon, so hopefully it will improve even here 6 miles away.

65 mb is pretty impressive! That's a whole lotta porn in not a lotta time

Been pretty consistently this since we switched to Virgin a few weeks back. Was previously with Pipex/TalkTalk on an '8meg' connection getting about 4meg down and 0.5meg up.

on same server as MSP/Edukator (sposed to be 16down/1up, maxed out on my kit)
on the one claimed to be geographically closestSo take yer pick. Quite a bit of difference on the ping stats.
Didn't take long for Telekom to start trying to sell me 64meg BB after booting me off the 2meg DSLAM on to the 16meg one (best they offered at the time). Guess they needed the rack space for 64meg kit?

OP, you do seem to have a bit of a turkey there mate (sorry cheez0, been busy)
I'd definitely quail if I was offered that sort of service

Using a closer server and changing to a non-HD TV channel speds things up:

Tumblr blog archives do indeed load as fast as you eyes can move.

I'm recovering some a similar situation - have been ~0.13Mbps for 2 weeks. It was caused by a fault in the ADSL router and BT then dropping the profile. I got a new router and plugged it straight into the master socket with the faceplate off and with a new filter and things are improving: ~0.9Mbps after 2 days. Hopefully will be back up to 2.5Mbps in another couple of days assuming I don;t suffer any drop-out in that time.

Cripes I thought 2.5 Gbps was plenty. What do you lot use all that megafat bandwidth for?

Have had a similar problem to Buzz above, was getting 7.5Mbps but ramped down to 0.2Mbps over 3 weeks, fault tracked to a loose connection in the junction box out by the main road. Have rung Talk Talk to see if they can ramp us back up to max speed instantly but that doesn't seem to be happening yet.

Hopefully better as of Wednesday as we have signed up for VDSL from Deutsche Telekom.
How do you post the results BTW?
Posted 4 months ago # -
This is 0.5 Mbps faster than I ever got with BT despite them assuring me it was impossible to get quicker with Orange
