A friend of mine built this up to supplement his full susser and single speed but a recent redundancy has forced a re-think and he’d like to shift it, ideally as a whole bike but doesn’t have a clue how much it’s worth, and neither do I.

    The spec is:

Frame- 2000 Spesh stumpjumper (no disc tabs)

Fork- Rock shox Sid, no idea of year but hold air could still do with a service

Wheels – Hope hubs with Mavic D521 rims

Cranks – Middleburn Duo 27/42 Shimano BB

    Rear mech – Shimano XTR

Shifters and front mech – Shimano XT

    Front Brake- Avid mechanical

Rear brake – Shimano XT V brake with Avid lever

    Seatpost and stem – Thompson

    Bars – Easton.

I know valuations are subjective and i reckon he could get more splitting it but he can do without the hassle, so any ideas, even a ball park figure.

The whole bike is in excellent condition with many of the parts in new condition, especially the wheels, and the frame has hardly a mark on it.

    Thanks.

£10.99, however if he can be tempted to leave that impressive looking saddle cover on it too he should be able to get circa £500!

    £200-£250 maybe?

A fair bit more if split though!

What size it? Whereabouts are you? I actually rather like the look of that.

I’d guess around the £300+ mark on eBay complete.

    Rough guess if split…
    Wheels – £80 to £100
    Forks – £60 to £80
    Frame – Sub £100
    Thomson bits – £50 – £60
    Rear mech – £30
    Chainset – £50+
Other bits – not a lot.

As other, a lot more split.

The problem with it, is no disc tabs, add to that it isn’t retro so falls into an area with limited demand.

for the parts as the-muffin-man, except, Wheels, doubt they will get much more than £50, the Thomson seatpost, £40 on a good day, stem £20-30, RD £50-60, crank £60-80 Other parts can get a decent return, just make sure they are listed well

if you split/ ebay it make sure you set up to post to europe. V-brakes are more acceptable/ popular there i’m sure you would get better money for the frame 🙂

TimP – i don’t have any available at the moment but could get some done over the weekend, is there any particular parts that you want photographed?

Split it as it would be shocking to only get crca £300 for it

TimP – yeah I got your mail mate but only just before i came into work so haven’t had time to read it properly yet. I’ll probably have to get the owner to answer some of your questions though so i’m afraid i may not have a reply for you until sunday.

They have a post 98 thread but you will need to put a price on it.
