I don't think you can beat the hope hoops deals out there, 275 quid (at winstaleys) gets you the new evo hubs on a choice of rims from xc up to burlyish. If you havent tried the stans notubes rims then this is a pretty good value way of doing it. From what I hear hope sell the rims, spokes and build at cost, only adding their profit markup to the hubs themselves. I personally like the stans flows but you can get dt or mavic rims on them too.

What he said
Posted 11 months ago # -
what they said... had two pairs of Hope hoops (One on DT Swiss and the other on Flows) both been great and really lightweight for the width of rim.

Stans rim to suit your riding, on a hope hub. Sorted.
Posted 11 months ago # -
hmmmm, i never even considered tubeless!
Posted 11 months ago # -
You can ride Stans with tubes too!

+1 Flows on Pro2s. Yellow tape; Stans jiz, sorted.

i lie the look of the mavic crossmax sx (i think thye're called)
Posted 11 months ago # -
What!? You use wheels!? I thought the Force was strong with this one?
Next you're going to tell us you aren't green!
Posted 11 months ago # -
why would i be green?? .............wanders off muttering
Posted 11 months ago # -
i'm using roval traverse ELs and loving them - light (1600g ish) and strong, with DT swiss based hubs, not a fan of mavic wheels as their rear hubs can be problematic

Stans rims with Goldtec hubs is another choice. You can even get your own graphics laser etched on. If you want a price I would give Kev a call rather than go by the website (BETD). Wheels are hand built to your specification, hubs are light and strong (I went for All Mountain front and Pro Competition rear) and support is excellent.

+1 goldtech as a good alternative to hope,

carbon rims that weigh more than stans WHY?
Contact them Jedi they may give you a promotional set and a deal as sort of sponsorship/testing.Posted 11 months ago # -
i like the mavics and have asked them how much
never considered carbon off road .............
Posted 11 months ago # -
me neither but if you dont break them i will be convinced they are strong enough
Wont be selling a kidney to get a set though.Posted 11 months ago # -
Always been happy with my Hope Hoop Flows, good sensible strong but reasonably weighted and priced wheelset. My Traversees are much lighter and still reasonably tough but then they cost over twice as much and I still managed to put a massive ****-off ding in one at Learnie last week.

Are you having a laugh? They're heavier than the lightest of the XC rims but are designed to be used for the same purposes as the heavier Flow, even though built with only 24 spokes so making a lighter wheel overall.

NOT Easton Havens - crap bearings and the importer is hard work.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Kings with Flow rims, you know it makes sense.

.that's what everyone says
Posted 11 months ago # -
no you do not
A set of stans are lighter as you accepted in your reply [ 355/Olympic]
To be fair I did not read the whole article after the price and weight tag tbh though I now have.
Yes it would be fairer to compare them to more robust stans rims but some stans are still lighter.
I dont see much point arguing about this shall we call it a score draw?Posted 11 months ago #
