Don’t wory about mud for a start, the quarry trails seem to be drying out nicely.

For our races I would suggest something fast rolling that grips well on wet rock. Don’t run too soft as pinch flats are a definite risk in places. Fatter tyres rather than thin because of the jumpy nature of the course.

For the STW weekender same again for the Xc race and then go for burly/ grippy for the downhill and grippy for the trials.

If you want to do well in either race get up there and practice!!!!

    Brownbacks speaks sense.

For the Classic Weekender: Fast rolling, biggish volume for the dc race. I found my Continental Rubber Queens to be good. For the DH I went for a 2.5 Super Tacky High Roller on the front and a 60a 2.35 High Roller on the rear. Pinch flatting is a real possibility, so pump up the back tyre or go for dual ply sidewalls on the rear. The DH choice will be fine for the trials.

Definitely worth getting up there to practice. You can come and scope out your lines on one of the pre-rides (free when you book your race place) or just make your own way up there. I’ll be running skills sesions up there as well (see the STW online shop)

    See you there.

Forgot to add that the DH course is quite pedal-y so don’t go too sticky on the back.

The quarry is definiteley a venue that rewards those who practise there and those who struggle (or want to go faster/ safer)its worth considering one of the courses now running out of it

see you on the start line
