I've got about three hours spare tomorrow in Liverpool. I'll have the family (two kids) and the car is there anything I've got to see? Liver Building/docks etc. Cheers.

Park at Albert dock, then a short walk to liverpool one shopping centre, or the Pier head, the river, the mersey ferries, and some great architectre along the river.
Th enew museum free entry,albert dock free entry, all near to the river.

liverpool has experienced the biggest population drop of any u.k city over the last 20 years. having worked there on occasion it's not hard to see why people want to leave.

How old are your kids? If under 8, they'll enjoy the play area at Seacombe Ferry Terminal, so book yourself a "cruise" and stop off for an hour at Seacombe. (But take yourself a book to read
)If older, then the museums are good. Look out for the "Dressing Up Corner" at the Maritime Museum

Desperate scousewives is on now on e4, and its like that, really pretty girls, and fredinly lads.

To be fair lodders, everywhere seems to get the piss ripped out of it on here, which can only be healthy.
I hate the media manufactured hatred between Liverpool & Manchester.

I was in Liverpool on Friday with an American customer. We went to Anfield, he's a big "soccer" fan. Plenty of other good things to see in Liverpool on the riverside.
For all of those of you who think Liverpool is grim, be grateful you don't go to Detroit as often as I do.

lived there for 15 years moved down from Glasgow, now down in Sussex but tbh I think of Liverpool as home now, don't knock it until you've tried a night out down concert square, slater street and maybe down to Matthew st when you've had a few too many. absolutely brilliant, much more life that you get anywhere else in Britain I've been. Going back up on Thursday and I can't wait, I'll be down in the Ship and Mitre before 9 on Thursday!
Fantastic architecture really good people and great places to go nearby, over to Snowdonia, up to southport or the lakes and back home fora pint of Cains.
Admittedly I now live on the other side of the river (in one of the highest per capita income areas of the country, much more money there than Guilford or most of the home counties) will pop up to Vita Cycles to ogle the gorgeous road bikes and go for a good ride with my mates with the obligatory stop at the Eureka cafe to take the mick out of Mr Boardman when I see him again and might even bump into Daniel Craig again if he's back up visiting his mum.Posted 5 months ago # -
jamie , i have worked all over this fair island and i agree there is a lot to this part of the world , in my opinion Bristol is much more dodgy (just my experience )

I reckon Liverpool made a turnaround. Somewhere around 2000-2002.
Before that it was a terrible place, the stereotypes had some excellent sound footing. You'd see a lot of people looking like the enfield characters, crime was rife, scousers seriously couldn't cope with anyone taking the mickey, violent city centre, the whole place was terribly run down.Then after some regeneration which is still going on, and what I reckon was a city-wide good long look at themselves, things started to get a lot better. There are still bad areas but you see no more shell suited narks than any other city in the UK. Crime has dropped dramatically and the whole place niffs of improvement.
They're still sorting out the laughable road system into the city but it'll not be long now and scousers now are far more approachable and friendly to outsiders than they ever were. Fashion has arrived too which is nice.
Yeah, it's not bad now.

samuri , spot on mate .... in fashion terms compared to Manchester which has a lot more individuality Liverpool has a lot of people wearing the same kind of stuff.......did I sound like kok wan then ?
