Old skooool toe straps!! I am riding an old bike that is a bit rusty but still showroom spec including pedals and straps and want to try and keep it that way if possible. Is there a standard STW answer that doesn’t involve:
    1) shimano spds
    2) standard flat pedals

My 5.10s wont fit in and I think a standard pair of trainers will have my feet aching after a couple of hours

So does anyone use straps for anything and if so what shoes fit and are comfy for a few hours?

How about golf shoes (without the spikes)? Normally a fairly stiff sole and normal ‘trainer’ sized ie not too bulky..

Maybe have a look at some “touring shoes”, Shimano and Specialized do some and Im sure there will be others. Tend to have stiff-ish rubber sole but easy to walk in, and even if SPD compatible just dont bother to cut the SPD rubber bit out of the sole and use like normal?

    Spesh Tahoe Sport
    Shimano MT-34
