  • What semi-aero Road helmet for a long thing face?

In MTB I’ve a MET shaped head, but I recently bought a Kask K50 for the road which just looks wrong with its squared off “brow”.

I want something like the new Giant Rivet or Bell Star Pro – aka semi aero.

    Recommendations then please?

I had a C50 too, which didn’t suit my head shape. Now got a Giro Synthe that I’m really happy with.

This is aesthetics not fit yes?

What brand of bike and clothing are you rocking?

Champ sys team kit, red and black dominant.

I noticed the Giro Foray is 1/4 price of the synth.

Why not the Giant Rivet or Bell Star Pro?

I have an Specialized Evade, aethetically not the best but its really comfortable and has a much thinner (but longer) profile than other helmets ive had.

Another Evade user here, I love it, not the most ventilated of helmets but it does get some air into it and its so light, if you head fits Specialised helmets, you will love it I’m sure….

Got a piss pot style Giro Air Attack, looks a bit silly on my long thin head, so probably worth avoiding if worried about aesthetics. I’d have been tempted by a Star Pro but wasn’t out at the time. Now I’d probably look at a Synthe.

    just looks wrong

Do you ride past a lot of mirrors? Does it clash with your sunglasses? 😉

    On a more serious note, though, the order of importance for a helmet should be;
    1 – Fit and comfort
2 – Suitability for purpose (So, tougher for gnar, moar aero for race, etc)
    3 – Budgetary constraints
    4 – Image

So, if your Kask is comfy, and it does the job, who cares what it looks like.

I mean, FFS, you’re going to be wearing lycra. As a grown man! 😉

I have a long, thin face and find the Giro Synthe an excellent fit. It’s very comfortable and super light. I tried the Foray which looks the same and is a quarter of the price, but bizarrely the fit was nowhere near as good.

Have you tried a MET Cameleonte?

Have you thought of going to a shop and trying some on. I just bought a new climbing helmet and while on paper the Petzl Meteor and the BD Vector are pretty similarly in spec and performance, one looked like mushroom perched on my noggin, the other looked pretty good in a neat and proportional sort of way. If I hadn’t tried them both, I’d never have known.

Anyone know if there’s any significant difference between the 2014 and 2015 versions of the Giro Air Attack?
Seen the 2014 version on offer in a few local(ish) places and tempetd to go for a try-on.
