After taking 9 years out from the mtb scene I have bought myself a new zesty 314. I'm over the moon with the bike however the saddle is absolutely garbage, it is killing me. What saddle do you use and reccomend. Thanks.

Anything by WTB. Just the right shape. Can feel a bit hammocky on first aquaintance though.

Cheap and nasty carbon jobby from Decathlon, 30,00€ 125g and still going strong after 5-6 years. Shame they don't sell them anymore.
More info here, but not much.

What fits my arse, won't necessarily fit yours. SDG Bel Air suits mine nicely though, been also trying out a Specialised Romin too and that's pretty good if a little firm.

Charge Knife is my favourite... But I think it'd have to be the right shape for you otherwise it might just carve you a new arse. Light, tough, cheap-for-what-it-is, and incredibly comfy considering how little there is to it.

Loving the wtb rocket that came on my new bike!

another vote for the specialized romin here - after an exhaustive search of maybe 50 saddles the romin pro is by far the most comfortable... I landed up with a 155mm width which surprised me given how narrow a lot of saddles are.

What's it got on it at the moment?
I like the Charge Spoon & Fizik Gobi XM - find them both nice and comfy & supportive - but as said, it's a very personal choice!

Charge Spoon for me at the moment, but it hurts the top of my hamstrings on the first long climb of a ride. Fine the rest of the time though. Lasted a long time and very cheap at £20.

Fizik Gobi for everything from commuting to 24 hour solo.

Just changed from Bel Air Rl Ti, to a Gobi XM. First impressions are very good.

Any WTB or SDG seem to suit my butt nicely.

Pauly, still gt the Bel Air? My Gobi XM is killing me & I want to swap back.Posted 11 months ago # -
WTB Saddles for me.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Has to be a Charge Spoon. Cheap as chips yet high on quality, comfortable as anything, and would suit your Zesty well.

Been using WTB Rocket Vs for years, thought that they couldn't be beaten
That was until I tried a Charge SpoonOf course - as everyone else has said - it's a personal thing

WTB Rocket V or Charge Spoon
The WTB is a tad comfier for me than the Charge, but both are good.
But as mentioned above they might not suit your arse
Can you try out some of your riding mates saddles to get a feel for which saddles suit you best?

I do Johnny. Bit scuffed round the edges, but still solid construction.
Will email you pics over the weekend if you want?Posted 11 months ago # -
Thanks for all the posts, really helpful. thanks.

Another vote for WTB saddles - Lazer, Devo/a, Rocket V and Shadow all liked by my sit bones.

Charge Spoons on my mtbs and Charge Knife and Fizik Arione on my road bikes

Charge spoon

Fizik Gobi has been my most comfortable so far. Bel Air and WTB too wide for me.
Posted 11 months ago # -
WTB for my (ample) behind
Posted 11 months ago # -
Fizik Gobi & Aliante xm for my skinny butt

(Mr MC posting)
WTB Silverado is my fave despite being sub 200grms with no real padding- the wings are in exactly the right place for my sit bones and the shell flex gives all the comfort. Oddly from above comments in relation to WTB and rider build I am a skinny racing snake and have a Fizik on a borrowed roadbike which is unbearable after an hour, just goes to show how personal they are.
Classifieds a really good place to find your ideal saddle, if you buy one used (Silverado cro-mos are typically 20 quid for example) and dont like it youll sell it on for what you paid so even if you end up trying a fair few you'll lose far less than buying one new one that wasnt right.
I have a near identically shaped WTB Rocket something which is good but not quite the same.

Charge Spoon and Specialized Avatar 143mm are good for me

SDG Bel Air Ti for the last 5 years but its getting a bit tatty and creaks alot. Ive been thinking of getting either a Charge Spoon or an SDG Formula FXR to replace it.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I find most saddles comfy really, but at the moment I have a Selle Italia SLR and a Fizik Gobi, both seem decent, the SLR is dead light too.
Posted 11 months ago # -
SDG Bel Air RL Ti. for the last 5 years comfy for my bum
Posted 11 months ago # -
Selle san Marco concor lite is my fave... fantastic seats.. hard to come by though.. the current version looks quite gaudy.. and is £££! If anyone's got any kicking about ill take them off your hands
or a recommendation for something similar....?Tried a charge spoon and HATED it... such personal things saddles...
