    What is the rule for setting chain length. Triple is chain on big & big +2 links, but what about 1×10.

    Assuming it’s a hardtail, same rule and then check it on all cogs.

    Check out the piece on Bikeradar front page today. They are saying add 4 links.

    L = 2 (C) + (F/4 + R/4 + 1)

    L = Chain length in inches. Round the final result to closest whole inch figure.
    C = Chain stay length in inches, measure to closest 1/8”. Use chart below to find decimal measurement.
    F= Number of teeth on largest front chainring.
    R= Number of teeth on largest rear cog.

    There was a thing on (I think) Bikeradar today suggesting chain round ring & big sprocket plus four links, as this is what SRAM recommend for setting up XX1.

    Edit: not fast enough…

    I just ran the chain over the biggest sprocket , over the chain ring through the mech and pulled the ends together until I thought the mech was stretched to it’s limit, backed it off to give one link breathing space and that seems to have worked fine.
