    It’s a big ‘un.
8′ high and probably 60′ long.
    Quite tough too.
Gets done three times a year.

Previously had a last gen cordless Bosch, which won’t hold charge anymore.
Used a collection of old style cells, was never really that good from new.

I could live with a cable but it’ll be a pain.

Any experience of the the newer rechargeables?
Prefer not to use petrol if poss.
Hand shears and a saw took three days last time.

    Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean long reach then?

I have a Qualcast one and it has been pretty decent for the last three years – and it can get through all but the most determined laurel branches.

i have one of these (need a battery as well…)

Very good. No complaints. Lasts for ages and is pretty light. And a 5 year guarantee (and Clas are very good at honouring them; bought an cabled hedge trimmer, tidied up a massively overgrown pivet which resulted in a slight burning smell, took it back and got a new one)

Not considered an extendable one, but it’s an option, ta!

Need a step to flatten the tops off anyway, and a longer, non extendable has been fine.

I hated hedge trimming (with a standard electric trimmer) until I bought a used Stihl HL95 off ebay (£120).
Really sharp, cuts through stuff my electric one wouldn’t touch and quick too.
It’s no longer a chore and I can quickly grab it and get going without messing with bloody cords. This means I’m much more likely to keep the hedges trimmed throughout the year.
The long reach ones are far better balanced as well so it’s not hard work.
Pricey but it’s transformed the way I think about hedges (we have about 600m of them but most get done by a tractor.
