I think this might be a good one for the front page poll?

Well then , what width are you riding and what type of riding do you do? 😉

in mm please, I have no frame of imperial reference on handlebars, or amybe even just narrow, middle or flippin mahoosive. 😀

I’ve just finished a new frame build, transferred most bits over, but got a new bar and stem. went big for a laugh, but 790mm really does feel spectacularly wide! 😯

    Cheers all!

710mm, bit of everything really, slowly up some hills and then slowly down the other side.
Seems to be a good width without clipping too many trees.

    685mm

Type of riding: general mucking about.

I like them, seem to work for me. Don’t really see any need to go wider.

710 on the FS, I’d like wider for cornering, but having relatively recently moved from 685, I think any wider would ruin climbing too much. Need to lower them a bit to gain the extra width vs. height, then at least they should ‘feel’ wider
    685 on XC HT
    685 on play bike HT
    600 on rigid commuter/rollers bike

Ton – all in good time! 😀 want to take it for a spin first, but really…. ooooooohhhh, lovely!

Anyhoo, you have bars bigger than 790mm?!?!?

Brakes – did a search, couldn’t see anything so hence my post. sorry if going over old ground!

Seems a lot about 685, that was my current but they felt too narrow. I am a big bugger, even so i think for general riding 790 might be a bit too big.

I found carnegies best in the trees, as with the backsweep if you did crack off anything it glanced rather than hooked. Shame they killed my elbows. 🙁

Cheers peeps, anyone on silly wides for trail riding?

I have some 750 burgtec ride wides. They are great until I have to squeeze past the bike in the kitchen. They do look bloody wide tho.

Here’s a thought I’ve been having. Wider bars actually cause you to straighten your arms and so you lose any gain in control they might give you. Obviously haven’t tested this theory out, thats why I’m mentioning it here 😀

720 Ragley Wisers. Thought I’d try them as MBR this month says ‘710mm is the minimum requirement for any trail bike’ which must be right 😉

    750 on the fullsus

750 is a bit of a bugger on tight treelined singletrack. I’m still adjusting my lines after converting from 660s

710’s on the spesh, stock 600’s on the merida. 600s feel rediculous now although Cannock is interesting with the 710’s.

710 on the soul for me, just feels spot on (did try siting with arms relaxed beside me and getting the good lady to measure the distance between lil fingers as a guide), did have 635 carbon bars for a long time till i saw he light!! got some 680’s in the shed too on the half built old bouncer,

would love to have a try on yhe 808’s! but, they wouldnt fit through the ‘anti tank wall’ at the bottom of my local woods!!;-)
