i’m new to the 29er, I’ve been riding it over the winter as a ss and now i’ve geared it as a 1×9 with a 32 up front and a 12 -36 on the back
so far with no problems, but with the weather breaking the rides are getting harder (due to the new garmin gps) so time to sort my gearing out.
i’m thinking a 26+42 up front with the 12-36 one the back?

    Advice please.

    34 at the front.
    19 at the back.
    Er, that’s it.

i love the ss had gr8 fun over the winter but now the summer bikes are coming out gears are needed just to keep up on the tops.

Well, I’ve got 34×13 on the other one with a Rohloff hub, which gives me gears from 1.7 to 8.9 metres.
26/42×12-36 would give you 1.7 to 8.1 metres, so about the same.

    14 tooth Rohloff sprocket ?
    Where’d you get that ?
Not that I want one, I’m just curious as I’ve only ever seen 13, 15, 16 and 17.
