On my Hope Minis it says “Use only DOT 4 or 5.1”. Does it not matter what is already in there? Can I just top up my hydraulics with either of these?

I put mostly 5.1 into my juicy 3s which had 4 in to start with – there was still some 4 left in. No problems so far – did it a few weeks ago now.

Not really advisable to mix, so if your not sure, just flush the old out with the new. Good idea anyway to replace it all if it’s been in there for a couple of years or more.

Mixing 3,4 and 5.1 is perfectly ok. Better to just flush anyway though, simply for the sake of having nice new fluids.
