    Looks like quite a good spec for a good price, any reason not to go with it?

    Also, does Windows Vista ® Home Premium get a free upgrade to Windows 7?

    I'd say thats a good one. Good memory, good hard disk size and Toshiba's are sound.

    WXGA resolution = approx 800 pixel drop. You will spend all your time scrolling down- which is the biggest pain on a notebook.

    Apart for that, the unit has tonnes of poke. Of course with vista on there it well feel slow.

    I'm typing this on a Toshiba Satellite Pro I bought 5 years ago. Only 60GB HD back then & cost £1000 but still going strong apart from battery not holding charge. Looks like a good deal.

    Search the web for REAL battery life. The manufacturers a full of shite when it comes to battery life but lots of independent reviews will say how long the battery lasted under real conditions.

    Unless of course you don't give a toss about battery life.

    OK, now trying to decide between the Toshiba in the original post, and the £399 Dell;
    http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/fasttrack/fs.aspx?refid=fasttrack&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1

    Both will get to me before uni (which other Dells probably wont), Toshiba has webcam (not too fussed tbh) and better processor, Dell has more mem and hdd. Not sure on other differences. Dont mind about the extra £50.

    Thoughts?

    I've got 2 Dell laptops I would recommend Dell.

    Had a couple of issues, key fell off keyboard 2 months ago and Hard drive failed 2days after getting it both problems resolved quickly by Dell.
