I’m doing some work on travelling with your bike and was wondering what people take with you. I take some basic first aid, water, jelly babies, thick fishing wire and duct tape. What do you take?

Inner tube, pump, tyre boot, tyre levers, multitool, leeches, go bar, tenner, 750ml of water.

Done a 120 miler yesterday. Road bikes are so much more about the riding than about the faffing.

Depend what you mean by longer rides 🙂

Always tube, patches, Sram links, multitool, mini pump, water bottle, cable ties, couple of nut and bolts. usually some jelly babies or similar. That will do me for local riding up to 4-5 hrs or so. If the weather looks dodgy maybe a waterproof jacket.

Out into the wilds maybe some sandwiches as well – then I am sorted for 7+ hrs. Depending I might take a basic first aid kit but not always

Multiday rides add a mech hanger depending if the bike.

No mobile, no GPS, nothing else. Never needed more in decades of riding

    Fishing line?

Normally just the basics plus an extra energy bar / gel just in case and a dry layer. In winter a spare pair of gloves. I tend to take the same pack for all rides and can’t be bothered packing / unpacking so always have a small first aid kit & space blanket along with a reasonably comprehensive but small tool kit
