Really like the geo of the Roadrat. Anything similar out there?

Preferably lighter and stiffer and must have disc tabs and run singlespeed

Pompetamine? Doubt it’ll be lighter though…

    Anything in Ti out there?

“Lighter and stiffer” – have you ridden a Roadrat, or just read reviews? They’re not exactly heavy and twangy.

I’ve just snapped my second Roadrat so know exactly how they ride!

Eek – odd place for a snap, too. Have you emailed Si about it? Cotic aren’t huge, so I’d imagine all info is good for R&D.

Custom Ti – Burls maybe? I want a Pompetamine-featured frame with my Airbourne Carpe Diem geometry…. I’ll split the design cost with you 😉

I was looking for something similar, I wish that planet x did the uncle john with swapouts so it could go singlespeed easily.

There must be loads of cheap reasonably light hybrid alloy frames out there?
Just not with a niche MTB brand name on the head/down tube.

    Just looked at Burls. Nice

The Rat has been in no crashes. Started creaking yesterday, and on todays commute, luckily only 2 miles in so I could get home it just went noodley and spotted the downtube!!
Last one snapped on the chainstay.

I haven’t contacted Cy. Would have to check reciept but is probably 2 years old and was powdercoated from new as I got it a bit cheaper as it had damaged paint. Hence me powdercoating it.

The warranty says void if paint changed.

How about a Van Nic Amazon with the slotted Rohloff dropout option?

TBH, when I priced this up a while a go it was nearly cheaper to go fully custom with Burls.

Looks like a Burls is just over 1K. Would be nice to lose all the bosses except for the disc hose

Cy might not be able to offer you much but he’d probably still be interested to know about it. Has it had a lot of use?

…and the Burls look lovely. 🙂

If it has to be single speed, you could always get an eccentric rear hub. I’m running the White Industries Eno hub on my road bike which has vertical dropouts, works great. This route would allow a lot more choose in frames.

It’s done about 1000 miles since April as it gets used on the bad weather days and a bling roadbike on the good days. Maybe 3-4000 miles and no crashes or accidents.

The only thing changed recently was new Deore disk brakes. They must be good!!

I could sell you a roadrat frame, if you like?

Failing that, the Ibis frame is Fresh Goods might suit.

Those Shand frames are lovely. Pricy though, esp. for a commuter.

They are nice, but 1K for steel, I would rather have Ti as a commuter
