I’m doing quite a bit of trail running, so I am looking for a compact camera to take with me.
I don’t take my phone, and I don’t have time to stop.
I just want something I can quickly pull out, and take a snap.

I have a Lumix LX3, but it’s too bulky to take.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

    I would’ve suggested the LX3…

If you don’t have time to stop, the pics will be all blurry

Fuji XP60, cheap, water & drop proof, fast boot-up. Zoom’s a bit poor, but otherwise I love mine. For better piccies I’d probably go for a Lumix FT5 next time, but then it’s 2.5 times the price.

I use a Lumix FT20. Its pretty small/lightweight, and waterproof. Very handy to carry in the waist pocket on my rucksack. Or in a belt bag, or pocket.
Doesn’t take long to take out and switch on for a quick photo.

There’s now a newer version, the FT25, I think its very similar. Or the FT5 has built in GPS etc, though its a bit bigger, and much more expensive.

Wow, what an incredibly specific request. A camera that can be used while running?

    I have to ask, what do you come across while running that is;
    a) so amazing you need a picture of it?
    b) not worth standing still for 125th of a second for?

    Lol at sharkattack 😆

As always, I’m happy to recommend what I have – a waterproof Nikon compact – not very versatile but won’t matter if you drop it / it rains / you sweat a lot.

I have tried a GoPro on a chest strap while running. Usually set in timelapse mode, one photo every 5 seconds. Stills from this are not great, often rather blurry. Plus you get your hands appearing.
Though you can make it into an entertaining video, sped up about 50 times.

I do a lot of Mountain trail running (just done an 84km last weekend in HK) and some of the views are amazing.
I would stop to take a pic, but not waiting for my iphone to get ready.
Just point and click would be my preferred option.
