Whichever bow saw you get, remember the blades have very big teeth, when in school a mate used mine to cut the end off his thumb after it jumped on a knot, he didnt half scream and bleed.

Wear thick gloves and be carefull when carrying one its so easy to catch someones leg or arm

We always used an old piece of hosepipe split down the side to cover the blade. Works a treat.

+1 for be careful, I still have the scar across my index finger knuckle where a bow saw bounced and cut, came damned close to losing it.

Its much safer with a good pruning saw.

Sandvik are still going but not for the products you are thinking of….they sold the tools arm….non-core 🙂

The Sandvik you are thinking of is now Bahco….

Bahco here – a lot nicer than the screwfix one I also have knocking about.
Oh and +1 for them being sharp and dangerous!

I like my big Bahco but the blade cover’s crap- hard to get on and it drops off too easily. Wouldn’t want to carry it on the bike much but it gets the job done.
