I am looking for a MTB tyre for all round use (not into swapping for seasons).

It has to be durable for most conditions and hard wearing for occasional road use.

I am confused by the options…Kevlar, semi slicks, small blocks, large wide spaced blocks, etc….

The tyres are for my fully rigi kona cindercone SS converted MTB.

Maxxis high rollers are the best all round tyre I’ve used.

I can also get around quite easily on Speed Kings for most of the year.

The Nevegal/bluegroove combo is okay too.

I’d avoid nevegals – they wear pretty quick, even the DTC versions. Good tyre though. Mine are semi slicks at the end of the dry season. I’m impressed with the 60a highroller on the back though, although they’re somewhat draggy on tarmac.

    I’d second the Speed Kings.

I like gravities. Fast rolling grippy in most conditions until it gets slimey.

Main disadvantage is that they don’t break away progressively. grip, grip, grip, slide on yer arse

Bonty Mud X are a pretty good all year bet, as are Panaracer Cinders
