  • What Adventure in December/January?

So it looks like I’ll have a few weeks available soon, and need some ideas for an adventure. Thoroughly pissed off that the timing is rubbish when the kids are stuck mainly in school and the weather’s shit; but there you go, got to make the best of it.
Weekend in Spain next weekend. Maybe another cheeky climbing weekend in Spain before Christmas. Then Christmas with the family and then perhaps Glen Coe with the kids for Hogmany if there’s any snow.

After that, I need some suggestions for something good. I was very taken with the idea of doing the ‘puffer with a couple of days skiing either side, but it’s sold out ages ago.

    Also considering:
UCPA off piste skiing in Chamonix
Devil’s Tpwer Wyoming (probably too expensive and long)
    Cheap last minute ski deal.
Week sport climbing at the Orange House.
    A week climbing/DWS in Tenerife
Kayaking in Nepal (but again probably too expensive and long) Also I’m not convinced about paddling until the kids are less dependent. Too dangerous.
Maybe odd days kayaking in Wales from home.
Maybe odd days ice climbing if the weather stays cold.

Ideally I want to mix a lot of housework, decorating, looking after the kids and some decent adventure. But what I don’t want to end up doing is hanging around Manchester in the drizzle.

What options can you think of?

    cheers
