Most of the above suggestions are good. Another I'd throw in the mix is Polzeath (Rock and Padstow nearby).
Hunstanton is a west facing beach in Norfolk and is supposed to be lovely.
And Sunny Hunny has the distinction of being the only west facing east coast seaside resort. Really good kite surfing and wind surfing and some fantastic wild beaches round the coast (facing North)
Hunstanton - only west facing beach on the east coast, allegedly. Lots of nice places around there as well.
Also home to Fat Birds and handy for Thetford.... 
West coast Ireland, in particular around the north west corner, places like Marble Hill/Dunfanaghy/Portnablagh. Spent several happy holidays as a kid there, stunning beachs, cliffs, dunes and machair. Plenty of holiday cottages in the area too.
Does the Isle of Man count?
Really nice around Port Erin and Peel
Rhossili is amazing and close to other spectacular beaches. We stay
at little hill end cottage which is highly recommended.

I second Harlech. We take our dog to either Harlech or Llandanwg beach several times a week. The sunsets can be pretty spectacular - even when it's raining!Access to trail centres are pretty good - near enough equidistance from CyB and Penmachno/Marin.
Here are some dog friendly cottages with good views!
