Never knew this was such a minefield !

Last year I had neoprene wellies, brilliant until they sprung a leak last week which turned out to be two cracks, one in the sole and one on a seam.

All I want to waterproof, strong wellies for dog walking.
I don’t want to part with £100 for fashionable footwear but I have been surprised that you are looking at either £60 or £10. ( ish )

Seems like a subject STW should be well qualified to comment on.

I use hunter neoprenes but actually prefer a pair of lined mukluks I got off ebay for £25 that have been and are ace.

Dunlop here round about £12 a pair I think if not less.

My old man swears by his Muck Boots

£12 Dunlops, worn almost every day walking the dog and have lasted 2 years.

Try them on first as not for everyone. If they fit well seem to be great.

Have had pairs that have lasted for about a year but for that price still worth it.

Dickies Rigger Boots from Wickes

The fluffy lining is warm in winter and cold in the summer and you can use the steel toe cap to kick any MTBer who get too close to your dog

I use these Nora Wellies which seem to be a popular choice amongst farmers. They’re unlined so require thick socks, but they don’t get that rotten stink that fabric-lined wellies seem to acquire very quickly.
Sunday best ones are Le Chameaux but they’re a bit spendy.

Great boots had mine for four years good sole for walking, long for walking in water. Stick some big socks on and they are toasty, I cut wood with a chainsaw for nearly two hours in -15c a couple of years ago and my feet were fine the chainsaw oil seemed to give up first.

I don’t know how wet the area you are walking in is but I wear North face Gortex hiking boots as I do try and avoid the wettest areas otherwise the dog comes back totally covered in mud

After 8 years plus of my previous pair – I find they are brillant, much warmer, more comfy (wider) than a normal Dunlop and on more than one occasion have been glad they are reinforced though 90% of use is dog walking. So worth the extra cost imo over Dunlop £20 basics.

reckons her most comfy footwear, she is in them twice a day every day for horse duties but they have to be replaced every year, something in the horse ‘water’ destroys all boots apparently!

I didn’t think it was possible to be ‘over the moon’ with a pair of wellies, but I really am with mine. Comfy, warm, completely waterproof and strong, they still look as good as new after 2 year consistent dog-walking, gardening etc use. They are made by Hunter but a much better price and they fit a lot better. I tried some ‘proper’ Hunters but they were way too tight around my calves
