Frikkin Royal “Fail” failed to deliver my cranks yesterday but I still managed the rest of the build, with a few FAILs of my own along the way (prizes for anyone who can get them). Have to say I am genuinely excited about this bike, probably because of the Tonka toy looks, and despite the fact that realistically it’s not going to see that much of the action it’s designers and makers had in mind.

    Nice err, seatpost
    *sniggers *

and you might want to invest in a longer cable for that front brake.

Can I be the first to suggest you should have bought a frame that fitted you?

Looks dead cool though. How much will you be selling it for?

Any Surly dealer can order you in a Pugsley. We’ve already put out a few frames and full builds.

Nice extra holes drilled in the wrong place on the rear rim. 😉

Looks very very good – spacers in the forks yet and the clearance must be tiny with those rims?

I’m also amazed at how small the frame looks – ready for sand dune big-air radness dude 😉

I think you may end up with some rather odd punctures on that!

Stu some of us ignore the instructions and our girlfriends don’t mind.

Anyway in an ideal world it is a little small, but I’m doing the best I can with what I have.

As usual my detractors have taken over with the personal insults.

I though snow bikes were meant to have a very low standover height so that if you have to put your feet down in deep power you don’t end up with your danglies in your throat.

Anyway you’re just jealous cos it’s twice as good as yours for half the price 😎

Saddo logo/valve line-up, presta/schraeder mix, bottom pull f/mech, larger disc on rear, rear tyre wrong way round (arguable that one) ????

heh logo line-ups FTW…discs the same size but nice try. The only other ones are the painted rr tyre & the variously mis-aligned holes in the rims. Drills & wine do not mix.

Thanks for the forks, they are tops. Looking forward to selling them to stu in s few mongths

    Unique, probably.

One question: what might happen if the forks compress enough at speed for the tyre to slam into the crown?

I’m surprised at the suspension forks on a bike with car tyres on but I applaude your enthusiasm. And disk brakes too, they look funny on a bike you’ll never go faster than 10mph on. SWEET!!! Well done.

I’d never sink as low as fitting a maveric product to any of my bikes. 🙄

Well that and the fact that there seems little point in a suss fork when the tyres work so well. 😀

BTW how long is a mongth? 😉

It’s fine with Mavs though Stu cause it means i can screw Al in a few weeks time when i buy it off him when he gets bored.

spacers only limit it to 3.5inches?
from my the pic – fork crown looks less than that. and with a little bit of fore and aft flex the frame might also as well.

still looks like an interesting bike tho.

You are kidding right? Unless you have oil in your tyres to damp the return?

    A mongth is a month in stu-time 😉

hexhamstu – do try harder, the mech will obviously rotate anticlocwise once the chain is fitted. As for its length, do you know what chainrings I will be fitting? It was just one I had bought cheap in CRC sale, do you think that bike was spec’d to please stw keyboard warriors?

As stu says, the fork travel can be shortened for the fat tyres – thanks for reminding me though, I’d probably have test ridden it before fitting them.

TBC – can you save me 2 till-rolls please?

I wonder if it’s the best spec’d fat bike in the UK?

That was a bit of an aggressive reply, you invited me to pick things wrong with it.
