Lacking motivation at the moment but managed to drag my Dune and tired bones along the Malverns.

Epic views, changing to pea soup, then back again.

As mentioned on another thread ..a fairly local ride mainly around the Sidwood area of Kielder Forest ..
Only fifteen miles in total ..but tough as the virgin snow had started to give due to the rise in temperature so that we were sinking into it rather than on top of it ..but still really good fun .
Four of us ( Dave ,Jaco,Russell& myself ) braved the weather today but were soon overheating and shedding layers ..in fact Russell went down to his base layer for a while !
    Some pics ..cheers lads

Not MTB, went out on the singlespeed today and visited this:

It’s the Hoffman kiln at Langcliffe Quarry near Settle. I’ve been past it many times but never got round to visiting it until today. Basically it’s a fancy lime kiln – continuous firing with 22 entrances and therefore loads, it took around 6 weeks for the firings to complete a circuit. It’s a pretty massive structure even today.

I trail ran 24ks of QECP this morning…

Whilst I’m on about that I saw someone had tied two inner tubes to the fence intersection between the Red and Blue run, you are not doing yourselves any favours by trying to beat the poo bag dog walkers by leaving your busted tubes tied to the fences.
    Take them home please.

The intersection is the area just up from the bottom Cycle car park (the lower one where the red run finishes) where the blue run climbs up from the car park along the gravel track then turns right up an access climb and the red joins at the top where you come down from the run and up a short steep climb onto the rear gravel access route and where the red goes right up into the trees and he blue goes left up the gravel section then turns right before climbing up into the woods. The fence is right there.

If they’re there tomorrow when I go over I’ll tell the wardens.

After procrastinating yesterday, I got out and went exploring Newlands / St Marthas hill.
Never been up that way before, and a few nice little bits – but what we found was few and far between.

First trip to Cannock for a few months this morning. Fun but huge issues with glasses steaming up meant most of the ride was done without them, which occasionally made spotting details of the upcoming trail interesting to say the least…

The Rocket DOES still look an awesome bike though.

20 local km on the Arkose, after not really riding for a good few weeks. Hard work, but fun.

Rode the Meon Valley Trail north again on Friday from Wickham, then up Old Winchester Hill Lane after some of my flask of tea and rejoined the trail south at Brockbridge. Much better views to the side than when I did it in mid summer, now the leaves have been shed by the trees.

    No pics outside…
Mad long weekend really stared with a 30c ride around the Derby trails and Trouty, Friday was the big long day with 40km shuttled descent dry, cool then massive storm hit and got soaked, Saturday shuttles in the rain again, a night camping in the car in another storm and drying kit by the fire in the pub, today short ride and more shuttles tomorrow hopefully in the dry with no big trees down

No pics as I was too busy breathing. Just did 12 miles round swinley yesterday. Not really done any riding over the last year so getting back into it. Might go for a little road ride today though.

Rode at a frozen solid Golfie on Friday…….it was soooooo grippy and fast.
On Saturday, with a slight hangover, I had my first trip to Thornilee. Really good trails but I was struggling a little with my judgement (beer induced). After 3 three very firm bar taps with trees at the side of the trail I decided to call it a day a little early and head back North.

Oh, and my first ride on a direct replacement frame………which I’m sure is a tiny bit shorter than the last one!

I visited Althol hill just outside Dunkeld. I ended up getting lost and had to find my way out of the forest in pretty dark conditions. I was on my own but I always let someone know where I am and using the trail forks app I got back to civilization lol My gimbal also stopped work 🙁

Got psyched up to go out for a gentle bimble to a local-ish cafe and back.
    Got dressed.
    Go the bike out.
Bent down to put some shoes to one side.
Felt something twinge at the rear/top of my left leg.
    Thought ‘Oh-oh’
Stood up again and swore, as it really twinged.
Struggled to wheel the bike to the door.
    Went in the house
Sat down for a few minutes
    Stood up and swore again.
    Put the bike away
    Got changed again.
Swore lots more (without any help from the twinges).

    🙁

Local bivvy last night. Lying snow made things a bit interesting, but most of it had melted meaning everything was under 4″ of water. Warm enough though.

Lovely round there. Haven’t been for about 15 years or so since I used to live in Leek.

It appears that we’ve had slightly weather here, trails were wet!
