I’ve been in training at work all afternoon dreaming of pumping over and down rocky trails with grassy banks at the side. But that won’t be happening this weekend, just out up local woods first thing on Sunday morning. Where you off?
Trip out the trails above Crieff hydro on the knock of Crieff. The non-sanctioned trails are pretty steep and I was out of my comfort zone. Rear pads aren’t in the best of shape, will be staying away from sintered pads.
Friday was turbo miles. Today was a no go as helping a friend buy a TV and then a family evening. Tomorrow I’m riding to Stratford upon Avon and back 75 miler so definitely seeing a triple figure week again.
No riding for me this week, been a loooong week at work and the weather isn’t motivating me, might go for a couple of pre work spins in the week instead.
Took a nice easy spin to Dunkeld with Dad, had a nice giant pancake with bacon and maple syrup. Tagged an extra hour or so on at the end to make up the target 6hrs for the day.
Eldest daughter @ her Boyfriends, The youngest and Mrs at a Dress rehearsal for ballet and Tap, so 2 hours to kill, a new bike to try and the suns out 😀
2 rides in a weekend, things are looking up 8)

Italy Rocketman? on a shopper with a basket? beats cannock chase! 😀
I managed two rides out as well and had a cracking weekend oeverall.
The mother in law was over sat afternoon so a quick hour n half out in the sun before out for wedding anniversay tea with the mrs. & as the mother in law stayed over I went out again on sunday morning for 3 hours up the local woods before meeting some friends for lunch out in Ashbourne and went onto Carsington water for playpark and icecream. It’s all good. 😀
spent the weekend digging over/reclaiming bits of the garden. Got out last night for 16 miles on the singlespeed. Beautiful evening, fun singletrack. Hurt myself on one climb – went off too fast and felt I had to keep it up, quads, calves, core, back, biceps and forearms all burning at the top. Had to have a little lie down.
Went for a bimble on some trails near Aboyne. It’s about an hours drive to get to these trails. I know plenty of people would love to have trails this good only an hour away, but there are plenty just as good that are closer, so I rarely venture this way. It made a nice change though.
Nice views, roverpig! How are you enjoying that vs the ICT?
Thanks. That’s an interesting question. Obviously they are both fatbikes, so compared with anything “normal” the differences between them are minimal. They are also both kind of trail-focussed fatbikes (rather than pure snow or sand bikes) i.e. relatively slack with longish reach. So, even compared with other fatbikes the differences between the Dude and ICT are minor. But there are differences. On paper and by any objective measure (e.g. Strava) the Dude is just that bit “better”. It’s a bit lighter, so easier to carry and a bit stiffer, which makes it a bit faster uphill. It’s also a bit faster coming back down. Maybe that’s down to the longer reach and slightly shorter chainstays or something. However, I had an affection for the silly Surly which I haven’t yet got for the Dude. Maybe it will come with time or maybe it’s just that you never really forget your first love 🙂
No pics thanks to the changes on the changes with Photobucket. The weather finally brightened up after the four days of rain and storms at the EWS in Millau. Travelled up through France today and arrived in Bourg to a nice warm sunny evening. Going to ride some trails up around Les Arcs tommorow before driving across to Aosta for a few days riding.
