We have booked a venue for our wedding next spring and we are due to pay the deposit next week (£1000). The venue is privately owned so we can’t pay with a credit card that would otherwise give us protection should the owner go bust/flee the country/die/sell the property. We have heard you can get specific wedding insurance for such eventualities. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendation?

I think ours was with M&S. It’s dead cheap, you’d be daft not to really.

It would appear M&S stopped doing wedding insurance.

not a recommendation but John Lewis do it: http://www.johnlewis-insurance.com/homepage/wedding-insurance.html

Figure they should be pretty good as it’s (a) John Lewis and (b) they must do a lot of wedding lists so it’s a market they are involved in.

We got ours through Debenhams. As said, worth having as was pretty cheap.

Do a google. We got ours for about 30 quid for a decent level of cover, I think we used some kind of comparison site. Don’t forget quidco too.
