So, there are some places were i go riding (Grenoside/Wharncliffe, Stainburn, Ladybower (Win Hill) and i see these stones. Just over a meter high and seem to be the highest point around with a small disc in the top of them with 3 points.

    My question is:

What are / where they used for?
    Whats there proper name?

You mean Ordnance Survey Triangulation pillars?? They used to be used for making measurements between known points for map making. We’ve got them satellites now…

Trig points. One up at black rocks where I ride regular. Think at one point you could “adopt” them and be responsible for their upkeep etc??
