Anyone had experience of mortuary work?
Think I could handle it but if there's anyone who's been there and could let me the things they don't tell you in the job description/job websites would like to hear from you. 'Mortuary Pathology Technician' is the job title.

very good friend is a CSI manager for the police and a forensic anthropologist. She's never happier than when poking around decomposed nastiness.
From what she says you'll need to be 100% sure that you have a very VERY VERY strong constitution emotionally as well as physically.
If Emila Fox was in the lab I would deffo be there!

I used to be in forensic toxicology, extracting and analysing drugs and their metabolites from various pieces of the deceased, so I thought I had a fairly strong constitution. I went to see precisely one post mortem and decided there and then that mortuary work wasn't for me.
I think it was the bit where the technician was using the heavy duty scissors to cut through a 6-month old child's as-yet unfused skull so as to get the brain out for weighing that had me feeling faint. Right on cue as I turned my eyes from this ghastly scene, I witnessed a gurney being wheeled in full of body parts belonging to someone who'd gone under a tube train. I woke up in the coffee room.
Let's see - I have done work in a path lab.
On one occiasion I asked what the pile of gloop was on the next bench - a stomach, cancer, look there it is. On another occaision I walked into the autopsy rrom where the weekends collection of cadavers were being diced up. So, based on my very, very limited experience, I'd say what michaelwright says x10
On the plus side you could play all manner of practicle jokes in that sort of environment.

Yeah I'm probably 90% sure and can't afford to find out I'm not able to handle it.
