    Hi,

I'm looking to take 3-4 days holiday in July, probably France, mountain biking. I'm absolutely hopeless with maps, and as I'm going alone I want way-marked routes.

Can you recommend anywhere? I'm reasonably physically fit, so some reasonable distance XC trails would be good. Wouldn't mind a go at DH so long as there are lifts I can take my bike back up on!

I hear Les Gets, Morzine and Chamonix are the best places, but can't seem to find out if there are many sign posted routes, and if so, how many there are in each location.

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't advise going to the Alps on your own and unable to navigate. You'd be asking for a disaster to happen.

+1 for not going alone in mountains. Go with a group and make sure your insured E111 dont cover emergency rescue.

If you're going alone then you should consider going with these boys.

You will also get tuition and some food thrown in.

Bagneres du Luchon would be pretty good. The trails are well marked and if you stay in the super bagnere area then you can't really get lost as all trails finish in a small area.
