My 11 year old Gore Paclite has had enough, its in tatters.

I quite like the look of a new Gore Alp X jacket to replace it. Can people recommend this jacket or an alternative please?

Probably a contentious one this, people seem to get quite polarised about goretex vs event vs a.n.other. For what its worth, I really rate the dhb event jacket, no extra features, no hood, no pockets, no vents, just a dead simple and light jacket.

I bought a Madison jacket from my lbs 2 years back cost about 75 its been really good only problem velcro came off one cuff but the elastic keeps the water out anyway Its dri-tex (whatever that is) not goretex but breathes well and has good zipped pit vents
